Jon Hamm Thinks He’s Too Old to Play Superman

If anything he’s too damn handsome and should be somehow fined for that. I recently ran the story on How the Mad Men star’s Name Has Been Mentioned, in conjunction with the new Superman film. The 39-year-old actor has told numerous reporters that he knows nothing of the rumor, but in a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, the actor says that he may be simply too old for the role.

“I maybe aged out of that competition, I don’t know, I think unless Superman’s power was the power of being really old.”

I don’t know about you, but I call bullshit. I think Jon would be perfect for the role and so does super nerd Kevin Smith.

“That dude could play Batman and Superman, you look at him and he’s got a f—ing Superman look, but he’s got a Batman thing going on, too.”

Is Jon Hamm pulling our chain? We won’t know until an official casting is released, and as far as that being too old thing? Christian Bales 36, so I don’t see what the big deal is.

  • While I support Brandon Routh’s return as Superman (he deserves a shot, really…), I don’t have a problem with Jon Hamm playing Superman. He would definitely make an interesting Superman because he is mature, has a masculine look & also a classic, Fleischer-cartoon Superman feel to him, despite the endorsement of Kevin Smith, who has the nerve to endorse anyone after directing the dreadfully-awful movie “Cop Out”! I’m just messin’ with Kevin—he’s an ok guy! 🙂

  • Hamm is right. He is far too old for Superman. If he did play him you’d only get a movie or two. I’d rather see a young fresh face who can grow into the role.
