Blockbuster has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and it’s no thanks to you Netflix subscribers! Now that people are getting lazier, I mean things are getting more convenient, people have been choosing Redbox and Netflix for their movie rental needs. Blockbuster can’t keep up and is struggling with around $1 billion in debt.

I’m surprised it took this long for Blockbuster to figure it out, since people do not want to go to stores anymore, going back and forth to rent and return a movie. With Netflix, you can just receive and mail your DVD/Blu-rays in the mail. You can also stream a lot of movies and TV shows instantly. Redbox has made things even more easier by having kiosks set up at department/grocery stores, and since everybody goes to shop for food and clothes, it makes sense to set a kiosk there.

I’m just glad I switched from Blockbuster to Netflix late last year. A part of me still wants to support Blockbuster, since I had fond memories as a kid there, browsing for a cool game to rent.

During the bankruptcy, Blockbuster stores and online services will still be operational.
