I love seeing James Franco on screen. From watching him as a lovable stoner in Pineapple Express to a freak on the TV show Freaks and Geeks. In this movie, he portrays Aron Ralston, who in real life, cut off his own arm to set himself free after being trapped by a boulder in a mountaineering accident. 127 Hours is being directed by Danny Boyle and as much as people love his movies, I’m one of the few that did not enjoy Slumdog Millionaire or Sunshine (I know I’ll get flack for this one). If James Franco is portraying Aron Ralston as a guy who likes to be reckless and scare two unsuspecting girls into thinking they might fall to their deaths, I’m not sure if the audience will be on his side. Let’s hope Danny Boyle can capture the pain and torture while adding some sort of characterization that will make Aron Ralston more sympathetic.
Looks like the guy being stuck in a tight area is going to be a popular trend, now with Buried also coming out, starring Ryan Reynolds.
And let’s not forget the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan-produced movie, Devil, about a bunch of strangers being stuck in an elevator.
